C.C.O.W Goat Brie & Awe

Awe.

brie7

Have we lost our ability to see something with child-like wonder and amazement? Do we miss life’s everyday treasuries because we’re too busy looking for a “bigger” treasure?

Brie1

…The rising of the sun. The birth of a baby. The transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly. The healing power of a hug. The serenity of a body of water. The comfort of home. The feeling of satisfaction from a job well done. The rest of a good night’s sleep. The growth of a flower. The human mind. The setting of the sun….

Brie2

No, instead we stand in awe at our bank account, a promotion at work, the shiny new car in the driveway, celebrities on TV, our looks in the mirror.

Brie4

But the problem is that “awe” is man-made and therefore cheap.  The awe so quickly fades and we are forced to get a bigger “high.”

“Every time we feel satisfied with what we have, we can be counted as rich, however little we may actually possess.” -Alain Botton

Let’s stand in awe of our lives just as they are. Beckoning us to see the beauty, free of charge.
