Best Friends Brunch

I am blessed to call the same friends I went to elementary school, middle school, high school school and college with, my best friends today. We have been together through all the growing pains of life from kindergarten at Uwchlan Hills Elementary School (Go Unicorns!) to our “big girl jobs” across the country. Our communication has moved from passing notes in class, to instant messenger, to cell phones, to facebook,  to massive group texts on the daily. Our time together has evolved from hourly in person gossip sessions, to double dates, to college roommates, to precious sporadic girls’ weekends in our various cities. This past weekend, we had one of those divine moments when we realized a handful of us were able to coordinate our RIDICULOUS schedules and spend some much needed “soulmate” time.

They traveled to our place here in Virginia on Saturday morning where we had a 5 hour catch up, gossip, therapy session brunch.

It’s during times like this, I realize that food for me is not about the pretty pictures, detailed recipes or table settings, but rather the people around my table. That’s what ultimately drives me to do Buoy and hopefully is what drives you to read it.

However, in case you were wondering what I made…How Sweet It Is’ Coconut Milk Breakfast Quinoa and Warm Autumn Salad, and Sally’s Baking Addiction’s Crustless Quiche and Skinny Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough Dip.

“In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, for in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

-Khalil Gibran

P.S. This post is dedicated to those friends who know who they are, both present and absent this past weekend. Thank you, thank you, thank you. ♥
