“For the first time in history, we have the power to end this. Everyone, everywhere should be able to survive and thrive.”

The Global Citizen Festival was held over the weekend in NYC with Pearl Jam, Beyoncé, Coldplay and Ed Sheeran. “The Global Citizen platform was created by the Global Poverty Project, Ryan Gall and Riot House in 2012, as a hub for innovative campaigns that work towards a world where every child can survive and thrive. A world where every child has a chance to go to school, a world where women and girls are protected from violence, and where preventable diseases aren’t holding people back.”

“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life. While poverty persists, there is no true freedom.”

-Nelson Mandela from “Make Poverty History” Speech
