What’s something you never thought you could do?

Get a certain job? Earn a certain degree? Audition for a musical? Ask that certain someone on a date? Write a book?

For me, it was running. To me, it’s painful, sweaty, boring, and did I mention painful? However, I am happy to report that I now hate understand running (or at least why people do it).

And I’m proud to say, that after two months of dipping my toe in the art/sport/lifestyle of running (thanks to the app – C2K), Webbie and I completed our first 5K this past weekend! Now, I realize for many, this is no accomplishment, but for me it was so much more than an accomplishment. It was a reminder that we are capable of so much more than we can even imagine, if we just get out of our own heads…

because I’ve learned, running is truly only a mind game.

So I ask you again, what’s something you never thought you could do? And, are your reasons ‘why’ truly valid, or are they all playing games in your head?

P.S. The race was the first ever Georgetown Race Against Homeless. It raised over $12,000 for Georgetown Ministry Center which “serves 1,300 homeless individuals every year, most of whom have serious mental or physical disabilities…they provide medical and psychiatric care, showers and laundry, and shelter to the most vulnerable homeless individuals in Washington D.C.”
